Playing Santa

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Secret Santa.”

You get to choose one gift — no price restrictions — for any person you want. The caveat? You have to give it anonymously. What gift would you give, and to whom?

I love giving gifts and so being a Secret  Santa is something I would really enjoy… In fact one of my friends once said he had never known someone who loved giving gifts, as much as,  if not more,  than receiving gifts! Giving it anonymously spoils the fun in a way, because the joy of gifting is best rewarded by the smile of delight on the receivers face or at least in knowing that you made him /her /them happy.

Having said that the second caveat is liberating – no price restrictions- WOW! I would love to gift a  home for the children of any metro in India , a home where they could stay free of cost, attend a lovely school eat the best of food and wear the best of clothes and get to play in beautiful parks. As I am presently living in Chennai, I could start from here. I have no qualms in being anonymous in this scenario –  just seeing them having fun and looking healthy and happy would be more than a reward.

It may sound very cliched… but it is a dream I have often nurtured. Doing meaningful social work or being a philanthropist is actually possible only if one is rich enough to make an effort that makes a palpable difference to someone’s lives.

Hoping that this pipe dream of mine is made to come true for me by the secret Santa above !! HO HO HO !

I too have a similar wish. Currently I try to donate to NGOs in India or elsewhere as much as I can. Hope what we give actually reaches the people it is meant for.

I was so honored and blessed reading your post. You would get to see their joy and see them thrive…and what a sight that would be. May your dream come true some day.
You brought me joy speaking your dream.
