Determination , Where art thou?

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Grateful and Guilty.”

Whether it’s a trashy TV show, extra-pulpy fiction, or nutrient-free candy, write a thank-you note to your guiltiest guilty pleasure.

Oh well, There are so many “guilty pleasures”  that I honestly do not know where to start !!

Having said that, I guess the worst of them is being addicted to snacks and sweets. I had taken the trouble to understand and stick to a diet and maintain an exercise regime  in early 2013. In the space of 6 months I lost almost 13 kgs. It was an achievement as far as I was concerned. And I was proud of it. The dedication and motivation involved,  added to the fact that I was happy with the way I looked and felt,  made me stop as I reached for the twin culprits. I kept the weight constant for another 6 months. My friends and family often told me they liked the plumper me but I was sure I liked the leaner one!!

But alas good things seldom last and then one thing led to another and now I have happily gained 10kgs of those lost 13! A new place, my hospital being located away from home  (that necessitates commuting)  a social life that ensured parties at least 3 times a week – whatever the reasons, they are all excuses.  I know that if I want, I CAN and if I have to blame someone or something,  it is only and only me.

As for thank you, am not sure a weak will deserves a thank you , however much pleasure I have derived from being a snacker and a couch potato.

Ironically this prompt comes on a day when I have decided to restart at least a tiny part of my previous regimen….. Wish me luck ,folks!!

And you have an active, happy weekend !!!

Feeling the same. Gaining like anything since I left the hills. I too need strong determination now. I am thinking to devote less time to blogging and more time to fitness as army parties are showing their affect on me. Blogging became an addiction but I love it.

Best wishes for your endeavour. Am sure that you’ll do it now that you’ve set your mind to a rather excruciating regimen. But you truly are fine the way you are. Do you really have to go to these lengths??

Thank you for the wishes and the “you-are-fine-as-you-are” refrain of 27 years whether i was a scrawny young bride or a matronly wife!! No excruciating regimen – just a slow and steady no to temptation of guilty pleasures!
