Starring “Me” in My Story!

Today’s prompt : FLASH TALK

You’re about to enter a room full of strangers, where you will have exactly four minutes to tell a story that would convey who you really are. What’s your story?

Once upon a time, there was a young girl, who like all young girls in the stories she had read, dreamt of being swept away by a dashing knight on a white steed.

Alas, all the girls seemed to be pretty, wealthy, lissome and helpless – a damsel in distress, a princess. Our heroine was none of these and so she was not sure what the future held.

She made the most of what nature, God and genes had blessed her with and followed her other dream of becoming a doctor, someone who could help others in need of it. Along the way, she made many friends, her parents sisters and teachers included.  She had grown up and her dream of the dashing knight became a fairy tale of childhood and was all but forgotten….

Yet one day, along came a dashing young man in uniform, though not on a steed! He took all her warts as  beauty and saw her spirit as lovely. Soon they were married.

Life is never a “happily ever after”

But neither is it always a  “roller coaster”!

A happy mix of both, 2 wonderful kids and 27 years later, she is still finding herself, her joys and laughter. There are tears and she does falter, but I daresay she will never have her life alter. Her uniform now matches her knight’s and she is proud of it. A teacher and yet still being taught by life, she hopes her dreams for her loved ones will always find an answer.

Finding satisfaction in a career balanced with hearth & home, she is still waiting for the “lived happily ever after “… someday…. somewhere….

If that does not happen, well,  “Que Sera, Sera”!

She is happy she has loved n laughed, despaired and cried, plumbed some depths and scaled some heights….. She has “lived” – which is more than a lot can ask for.

Cheers to life,

Cheers to strife

Cheers to lights

Cheers to nights

Cheers to dreams

Cheers to beams

Lets leave the heroine of my story saying Cheers to life!!

Onward, onward, looking forward!!

I loved the conclusion, leaving your heroine to her dreams and possibilities.
    Well done!

Now here’s the other side of the story in 30 seconds.

The officer in uniform (sans steed) who swept the heroine away 27 years back is neither dashing nor handsome (in fact he never was). That’s where the heroine’s dreams did not come true.

But the officer was (and still is) the luckiest being to inhabit this earth because no sooner had the lissome lass tied the nuptial knot, she turned into a most magnificent princess and superwoman with amazing multitasking abilities.

The kind hearted girl soon transformed into the ideal daughter, sister, wife, in-law and mother with mesmerizing ease and continues to perform all these roles to perfection even now. She has always been a true and trusted friend, the ultimate agony aunt and most gracious host to anyone she comes across.

As an doctor, she continues to wins the hearts of her grateful patients for her medical skills and immense patience while bringing their children to life. She dorns the “don’t ever mess the Army” sleeve when in her uniform.

Varied interests from cooking to reading to music to movies to writting/blogging ….So many roles to perfection ….. Fortunate indeed are those who have crossed paths with this magnificent Lady. She “lives” “life” on her terms …. for others.

And the luckiest of them all is the soldier who swept the prettiest girl in the world into his arms 27 years ago and still has the tremendous fortune of her unbounded love and caring even when he has turned old and grey now.

    Cheers to life!!
