My Soulful Life Companion

Machines, appliances, and gadgets sometimes feel like they have their own personalities — from quirky cars to dignified food processors. What’s the most “human” machine you own?

This post was earlier written in response to a prompt asking  what a person digging 500 years form now would learn about me and our present life from a relic left in my premises….So read on….about my soulful “Life companion”

“Come here, quick” said the woman to her boss

“I think this relic, some ideas it’s going to toss,

Here’s a small box – it seems the ancestor

of what we now call as a  “Hobster”

By Jove, It seems to have survived, intact,

Despite the tsunami it seems to have had contact!”

It would be my ubiquitous mobile

Its screen that says,  stop awhile

Check the day, check the weather, check the time

As a diary, an address book it does its best to mime!

A music player, a radio, a record keeper

It keeps me abreast of every news-maker.

It connects me to friends far and wide

My kids n hubby and sisters on the side,

I see a marriage I missed, a cousin’s newborn

A friend’s fun-filled face,  another’s forlorn.

Books it stores, limitless knowledge it shares online,

A doubtful word, a doubtful product to clear it helps me fine.

Handheld marvels, yours and mine,I know

Even five hundred years from now,

Would make the future Man go ”Wow!

Pray how did they have the ‘Know-how’!

Five hundred years on, five hundred years

From now, they will still be all eyes n ears!

Great one!! Yeah, your true companion – both materially & emotionally (your mobile), would tell everything about you in posterity just as it tells you all about everything presently.
